Shovels went to work today breaking ground for the Pirate Playground. Organized by playground volunteer Mac Morriss through the Amelia Island-Fernandina Beach-Yulee Chamber of Commerce, the event was well-attended by representatives of local government and businesses, playground project volunteers and contributors, parents and children. Signs dotted the area, showing the future locations of park elements. Aaron Morgan happily reported that over $130,000 in cash and in-kind services have been raised so far, but more is needed. Everyone has a dream, and many people’s dreams will come true at this playground!
